About the teacher:

Jen Rathbun began her music study at the age of seven with piano lessons.  As she excelled at piano, she stood out in both school and church choirs.  During high school, she won first chair soprano in her region and continued on to make state choir in Texas.

Jen earned her bachelor's degree in music from the University of Denver (DU), and was active in the opera and musical theatre  programs.  She acted, danced, and sang in operas and musicals, ranging from Don Giovanni to Fiddler on the Roof.  While attending DU, she earned extra money as a piano accompanist for student recitals.

After receiving her four-year degree from DU, she continued  to Colorado State University to earn her master's degree of music in music therapy.  Jen came to Houston as an intern at The Institute for Rehabilitation and Research and was asked to stay to work as a staff music therapist for the brain injury unit.

Currently known to her students as Ms. Jen, she draws upon her therapeutic skills of patience, goal-setting, and encouragement to teach her students.
